Burmese Social Monk Naing Win: I Use A Book and A Microfilm to Do The Diplomacy for My Country

According to 《The Icons》 two previous reports 《A Different Style of Practice! Burmese Monk Naing Win: I Travel around the World by Making Friends》,《Unbox The Special Burmese Monk’s Life, Naing Win: Use ESG to Make Friends from Everywhere》, Naing Win is a monk who love to make friends by traveling around the world, though his life seems aimlessly and casual, but as long as 《The Icons》asked the goal of his travel, he stared at us seriously after he took a deep breath and said.

How to know Buddhism?

“Are you familiar with Buddhism?”

Naing Win kept speaking after he asked the reporter from《The Icons》“Exactly! People might have heard of Buddhism, but most of them do not really understand it.” Naing Win waved his hand with a smile implying the reporter not to sweat it. Naing Win indicated that he loved to share his stories and what he sees and hears with others, but eventually he will show up two things, “I’ve told you that I was in the microfilm, right? That’s one of them, another one is this book.”

Naing Win took out a book《The Icons》New Voices of a Changing Myanmar》. He let the world know him, Buddhism and Bruma by promoting these two things.

“The book offers you the history, my microfilm shows you the culture and life.”

Intention of the Burmese Convention

After introducing the book and microfilm, Naing Win thought for a moment and asked “Would you like to be a monk after hearing my stories?”

“Well, if it is in Burma then, a little, because your life seems great.” 《The Icons》group responded humorously. Naing Win clapped his hands with laughter after the answer from the reporters, “Indeed, lots of people have the same idea, but…” Naing Win paused and said it seriously.

“The convention of being a monk actually saves a lot of children who were born in poverty, human’s birth is always unequal, many of them even lost their rights to live or grow, for those lucky ones who survived, they can only be underclass.”

Naing Win said that in Burma, due to the poverty, many children were sent to the monastery for education at the age of six or seven by parents, after the practice, they could choose either return or stay to be the monk. For the parents, children’s safety is the main concern.

“In the 90s, countless children were saved by this convention. I remember two of the SDGs are No Poverty and Reduced Inequalities. This totally reaches the goals of the SDGs, we save those children who were born inequality, we help the family who cannot afford the fee.”

Toward the world

“ I know what a person can do is limited, but still, I wish to promote the SDGs by the book, my microfilm and our culture.”

Naing Win is still traveling around the world right now. From his point of view, the ideas can be inherited. Today he told us the stories, which will be passed on by us, by the readers, then more and more people will join him and accomplish this goal.
