Utterance for Women from A Nigerian Man, Obafemi Richard Jegede: What A Man Can Do, A Woman Can Do Better!

The inequality between man and woman is a common circumstance in Nigeria. We can tell the status of women will always be lower than men, no matter careers, salaries, authorities, politics and even the blessing for a newborn.

“Women have always been the second-class citizens in Nigeria!” In 2020, the government of Nigeria denied gender equality, Nigerian women came out of the word with frustration and disappointment. The hope for evenness was broken once again, however, with the change of the generation and internationality, more and more heroes speak for the female in Nigeria.

President and Founder of the W.R.O (Woman Reform Organization), Obafemi Richard Jegede, was invited by 《The Icons》to advocate his idea, in this world, what the man can do, woman can do!

Arise of the W.R.O,  sparks of hope

“What is your intention of founding the W.R.O?”

Reporter of 《The Icons》felt curious about Obafemi’s intent. As we all know females are the underprivileged, even the government ignored this issue. However, a man in Nigeria, Obafemi, chose to stand up for the females and fought the phenomenon in this country. Even though you’re not a Nigerian, I believe you will be shocked about it.

“My main purpose of founding the W.R.O is to lift women out of poverty.” Obafemi indicated that in the society of Nigeria, women are vulnerable for the aspect of authority, their position was relegated, some of them chose to resist the situation for their sustainable rights, however what they gain was nothing but pain and harm. Except for the authority, the survival depends on finance, due to the gender they are treated unequally so their salaries are far cry from men’s ones. How do they fight for equality when they can’t even keep themselves alive?”

On Obafemi’s point of view, the priority for the W.R.O to concern is definitely their financial problems. If the organization can help them with the financial problem, then they can earn their authority for a fair fight.

Women are not dolls!

In Nigeria, almost every male has better payment compared to females which causes the phenomenon of despising women.

Obafemi said seriously “Women’s abilities are yet to be exposed, they are powerful, they are intelligent, more importantly, they can do everything the men can do, even better!”

To Obafemi, women are not dolls, they are very potential, what very pity is, their abilities were covered by the phenomenon of this unfair society, so he wished to aid them through W.R.O by offering them opportunities to create equality, to create their own path, and promote the whole society.

“ Women are actually designed to support the community!”
