Twins Team

In Taiwan, twin sisters Wu Yu-Chi and Wu Yu-Xuan have utilized their resilience and foresight to create a powerful organization of 1,500 women dedicated to promoting female autonomy and career development. This is not just a story of business achievement but also a practice of female empowerment and social change.

In an exclusive interview with《The Icons》, Wu Yu-Chi and Wu Yu-Xuan shared their childhood memories from Taiwan. The sisters grew up in Yilan, where their childhood was filled with family responsibilities and early self-reliance. Due to limited family financial conditions, they learned to rely on each other from a young age, facing life’s challenges together. Wu Yu-Chi recalled, “Our childhood didn’t have many toys and games; we learned how to find solutions to difficulties.” These experiences honed their character and instilled in them a steadfast belief in the future.

Wu Yu-Xuan added, “My sister has always been my role model. Her persistence and clear future planning always made me feel secure and proud. We started our business together based on mutual trust in each other’s abilities and a desire to change our destiny.”

Challenges and Opportunities in Building a Business

As adults, the sisters choose different career paths. Wu Yu-Chi entered the challenging fitness industry, while Wu Yu-Xuan began her career in the cosmetics department of a department store. Despite being in different industries, their shared dream and pursuit of success never wavered. After gaining valuable experience in their respective careers, they realized that the challenges they faced were surprisingly similar, despite the industry differences.

This realization made them aware that women often encounter gender biases and development barriers in the workplace, whether in the fitness industry or cosmetics sales. These shared experiences deepened their understanding of the untapped potential of female energy and strengthened their resolve to create a platform supporting women’s development. They hoped that through their efforts, more women would feel supported and empowered in their pursuit of career success, no longer confined to traditional roles.

Empowering Women: From Concept to Action

Realizing that they could not achieve significant change alone, the sisters decided to establish a platform focused on women’s career and personal development. Wu Yu-Chi explained, “We want this platform not only to help women find jobs but more importantly to help them realize their self-worth and boost their confidence.”

This organization quickly developed into a powerful network, attracting women from various fields. Through education, training, and mutual support, the platform has helped countless women change their life trajectories. One example is a single mother who had paused her career as an accountant for ten years due to life pressures. Through the sisters’ platform, she not only returned to the workforce but now leads a stable and fulfilling life. Wu Yu-Xuan said, “Seeing her regain confidence and motivation in life deeply made us realize the significance of our work.”

One particularly special case involved a mother of three who had left society for ten years to focus on her family. With the support and training from the Twins Team, she regained her confidence and achieved remarkable success within six months. She not only reentered the workforce but also quickly reached a six-figure monthly income, becoming a successful professional woman. Her experience underscores the importance of female empowerment and profoundly demonstrates the value of the sisters’ work. Wu Yu-Xuan, speaking about this mother’s story, remarked, “Seeing her transformation reinforces our belief that every woman has limitless potential, provided they receive enough support and opportunities.”

Integrating SDG Goals: Promoting Sustainable Development

Wu Yu-Chi and Wu Yu-Xuan’s organization also actively integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Through concrete actions such as promoting female representation in leadership and decision-making, providing career training and resources, and advocating for equal pay and working conditions, they have made significant contributions to achieving these goals. Their efforts not only enhance the social status of women but also inspire more women to pursue their career dreams.

They believe that gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but also a cornerstone of sustainable development. Wu Yu-Xuan emphasized, “Our goal is to create a fair workplace environment where every woman can reach her full potential.” Additionally, they are committed to raising public awareness about the importance of gender equality through social advocacy and policy initiatives, thereby promoting sustainable development across society.

Breaking Traditional Frameworks: Creating New Possibilities

The Wu sisters are not only focused on providing employment opportunities but also on breaking traditional gender frameworks and promoting a reevaluation of women’s roles in society. Through the power of their organization, they encourage women to discover their potential and freely choose and develop in both technical and leadership fields.

The workshops and seminars they organize provide not only skills training but also emphasize the importance of mental health and self-identity. These events become crucial platforms for participants’ self-exploration and growth, helping many women find their voices.

Looking to the Future: Co-Creating a Better Society

Looking to the future, Wu Yu-Chi and Wu Yu-Xuan hope to expand their influence globally and collaborate with more international organizations to advance the global progress of female empowerment. Wu Yu-Chi said, “We believe change starts with action. Every step, no matter how small, is a step towards a more fair and inclusive society.”

Through their efforts, we see the possibility of a more equal and supportive society. Their story is not just a symbol of personal success but also an encouragement and support for women globally. The sisters have proven that when women are empowered and respected, the entire society becomes healthier and more harmonious.
