As demand for next generation transportation rose with increased SDGs awareness, Foxconn meets the challenge to offer a sustainable vehicle while not compromising reliability or comfort with their self developed Model C, Taiwan’s first EV to enter production.  Versatile, economical and sustainable, Model C aims to be the new household electric SUV in the Taiwan market.

3 + 3 = Infinity

Known previously as a low end original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Foxconn announced on HHTD 20 their new 3+3 strategy, with the flagship project to be the new Model C electric vehicle.  Designed to be affordable, clean, and flexible, the car targets the rising youth market, addressing concerns of corporate overpricing and environmental impact of traditional petrol vehicles.

Next Generation Transportation

Design of the vehicle revolves around four core features: shape, space, power and energy consumption.

The minimalist car shell serves to optimize space used for mechanical components, maximizing seating and storage space.  Delivering an extended range of 700 km per full charge through cutting edge solid state batteries and a low 2.7 drag coefficient, the vehicle offers reliable and efficient energy consumption rates.  The production model also expects ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) integration among other emerging vehicular technologies.

“This is the best birthday present I’ve received in my 71 years of life,” said Foxconn founder Mr. Terry Gou during the vehicle’s announcement at HHTD20.

Expanding the Ecosystem

But why stop at one car?  Foxconn’s brand new MIH (Mobility in Harmony) open software and hardware platform allows for seamless transition of existing technologies into new EV chassis designs, lowering costs through sharing production lines and digitizing production processes.

The platform lowers the bar of entry for established and emerging car manufacturers hoping to make the leap into the electric vehicle industry and helps limit production wastes through optimizing the design process.

Through technology and resource sharing, once unrelated corporations are now participating in the development of next generation electric vehicles, pushing the boundaries of green mobility not just through transitioning from petroleum fuel but also reducing emissions and wastes throughout the production process, making another great stride on the road to achieve true automotive sustainability.
