During the Reformation, Martin Luther encouraged people to work hard, lose the constraint from church, promote capitalism and the growth of the economy; today Alex will tell《The Icons》how religion promotes the world economy.

When Religion Becomes Motivation to Make Money

In the past, Christian didn’t advocate the economy, but it can reflect the Christian standpoint, especially now capitalism is prevalent, the economy has become the core of people’s life, and it’s also the key to promoting the development of the world and history.

Alex took Marx Weber’s “The Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism” as an example, mentioning the impact of Reformation on the economy, from promoting the overall economy to achieve equal wealth through inner beliefs, to working hard to pursue one’s happiness.

“From the history of Reformation, we can see religious influence on the economy; although today’s society tends to indulge capitalism, competition and economic promotion triggered by the pursuit of one’s happiness is what promotes the development of the world.”

Alex mentioned the stereotypes about Christian “In the past, Christianity forbade desires, but after the Reformation, most of them were gradually affirmed, because appropriate desires drive force for human and global economic growth.”

Religion is both a constraint and a guide, guiding people in the right direction and promoting the world economy with desire.
